Arctic & Polar

Arctic colors are some of the easiest to live with. Cool blues, pearly whites, and soft sunset pinks anchor a room that feels open and clean rather than icy. Pair an arctic mural with white or cream walls in matte finish to keep the eye moving across the design. Wood-tone furniture in light oak or warm pine balances the cool tones beautifully and stops the room from leaning sterile. For a peel-and-stick design like our Polar Bear Dawn mural, hang it on the longest wall behind the bed or crib so the soft horizon stretches across the room. Add a chunky cream knit blanket, a sheepskin rug at the bedside, and one or two cool blue accent cushions. Small, deliberate touches read better than busy. The mural itself carries the visual story. Let the rest of the room breathe around it.

For wainscoting designs like Penguin Pebble Gift, install below the chair rail at 36 to 48 inches off the floor and paint the upper wall in a soft warm white. The contrast between the white upper wall and the cool blue wainscoting feels crisp without feeling stark. For seamless pattern wallpaper, scale matters. A small repeating arctic fox or snowflake pattern works beautifully on all four walls of a small nursery, while a larger orca or polar bear pattern is better as a feature wall behind the crib. Round out the room with soft textures: boucle throws, faux-fur poufs, and matte ceramic lamps in cream or pale grey. Avoid neon and high-gloss finishes anywhere in the room. Arctic style relies on softness and natural light. Anything too bright will fight the mural for attention.
