How to Measure Your Wall

Don't worry—measuring is easier than it sounds. All you need is a metal tape measure, a pencil, and a helper. Just follow these tips, and you’ll be all set!

Use a Metal Tape

Cloth tapes (like for sewing) can stretch and give you the wrong number. Always use a rigid metal tape measure.

Add 2 Inches

Houses settle and walls are rarely perfectly straight. Always add 2 inches to your height and width to be safe.

Don't Subtract!

Have a window or door? Ignore it! Measure the wall as if it were solid. (We’ll explain why below).

The Standard Wall

This method covers 95% of rooms. Whether you have a blank wall or one with windows and doors, you treat the space as one solid rectangle.

Step 1: Measure the Width

Measure from corner to corner. We recommend measuring at the top, middle, and bottom, then taking the largest number.

Step 2: Measure the Height

Measure from the ceiling down to the floor (or the top of your baseboard). Again, measure the left and right side and take the tallest number.

Step 3: The Safety Net

Add 2 inches to both your Width and Height totals. This gives you extra paper to trim off during installation so you don't end up with a gap!

How to Pick Your Size

Our wallpaper is sold in standard size kits (e.g., 144" Width x 96" Height). Once you have your measurements (including the extra 2 inches), simply round up to the closest size option on the product page.

For Example:

Your Wall: 140 inches Wide

You Buy: The 144 inch (or larger) option

Tip: You can easily trim away the excess paper with a craft knife after installing!

Windows, Doors & Obstacles

It is tempting to subtract the measurement of a window or door to save money, but please don't!

To make sure the mural pattern flows perfectly across your wall, we print the design as a full rectangle. If you subtract the window, you might cut out a key part of the design (like a bunny's head!).

The Rule:Measure the full width and height of the wall as if it is a solid block. You will simply cut around the door or window during installation.

Complex Situations?

Not every nursery is a perfect square box, and that's okay! If you have tricky spaces like slopes, corners, or unique details, here is how to handle them.

Sloped or Angled Ceilings

Ignore the slope! Measure the tallest point of the wall and the widest point of the wall. We will print a full rectangle, and you will trim away the angled excess after you stick it to the wall.

Multiple Walls (Wrapping a Corner)

If you want the mural to wrap around two walls, measure the width of Wall A and Wall B separately, then add them together. For example: Wall A (100") + Wall B (100") = Total Width (200"). Order a size that covers 200".

Baseboards & Moldings

We usually recommend measuring from the Ceiling to the top of your Baseboard. However, if you want to cover the baseboards too (or if you plan to remove them and reinstall them over the paper), measure all the way to the floor.
