No. While mermaids, unicorns, and princess designs tend to be most popular with girls, our castle, knight, pirate, and circus designs appeal strongly to boys. Bible Stories and Toile de Jouy are gender-neutral and work for any child. Many designs use gender-neutral palettes, and we have fairy and unicorn murals in earthy and cool tones that work for any child.

Most storybook themes are popular with children aged 3-8, when imagination is at its peak. Soft pastel fairy, unicorn, Bible Stories, and Guardian Angel designs work for nurseries (0-2). Toile de Jouy is most appropriate for older children aged 6-10. The key is choosing a design with age-appropriate detail and color.

Our designs are hand-illustrated art, not cartoon characters, so they have a timeless quality. A beautifully painted castle, a watercolor mermaid scene, or a refined toile pastoral can appeal to older children, teens, and even adults. That said, fantasy themes tend to have a shorter lifespan than nature or sky themes, which is why our peel-and-stick materials make it easy to update when tastes change.
